Cleansing

A New Schmidt hot jet cleansing machine, costing £90,0000, was purchased which was only made possible through BID contributions. This is being used on a regular basis between 3 am and midday.  Pedestrian areas are cleansed in the early hours to minimise disruption to city centre shoppers, employees and visitors. 
 
The initial deep-cleanse took longer than originally anticipated as two or three are needed to remove the accumulated chewing gum.  Because of this, the machine is being used five nights per week and the night shift has been doubled to enable the machine to be used continuously.  In future only one pass of the machine will be necessary at any one time.
