The geographic BID area will contunue to be all business premises within Coventry City Centre’s ring road. The business sectors included in the BID are those that interface with their customers within the city centre. For example retail, leisure, banks, travel/recruitment agents, estate agents, solicitors, council and car parks. This definition therefore excludes general offices.
The BID organisation will continue to be CV One Ltd, a not-for-profit company (limited by guarantee) that currently has operational control of the city centre. The BID Business Plan will be separately auditable, but no separate BID company will be formed to avoid extra administration costs. A CV One Board Sub-Committee will continue to meet with representation from levied businesses sectors.
The overall vision for the BID remains to make Coventry City Centre a better place to conduct a business and to visit. It will achieve this by understanding our customers’ needs - improving the reality (clean, safe and attractive), improving the perception, attracting inward investment and generating additional sources of income to supplement the BID levy.
CV One has been operating as an effective BID pilot since 1998 and as a successful BID for the last three years. It has delivered increased footfall, increased turnover, lower crime, lower stock loss, lower voids, improved perception, improved visitor profile, better cleansing scores and better events.
Competition has increased locally and will continue to increase further in the future. The extra resources of the BID are needed to fight off the continuing threats while Coventry’s city centre offer is still not fully developed.
